Nina A. Mayr is an Anna Boyksen Fellow at the TUM-IAS and a Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She holds the George E. Laramore Endowed Professorship and has held leadership roles, including Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UW (2013–2018). Her research focuses on structural and functional tumor imaging, cognitive interventions in radiation oncology, image-guided radiation therapy, and breast/gynecologic cancer treatment.
Mayr earned her medical degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Iowa. She has led departments at Ohio State University and the University of Oklahoma, building new radiation oncology facilities. Her awards include the 2018 Teaching Award, Castle Connolly Exceptional Women in Medicine (2017), and the Alice Ettinger Award (2015).
Her publications span advancements in MRI-guided therapies, tumor heterogeneity analysis, and patient-centered interventions. Research trends emphasize integrating imaging innovations with clinical outcomes, particularly in cervical and breast cancers. Mayr’s work bridges technological precision and patient care, addressing challenges in radiation therapy optimization and cancer survivorship.
