Nima Hoda is a Norbert Wiener Fellow at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics, where he teaches courses like Algebraic Topology and Real Analysis. He previously held positions at Cornell University (NSERC H.C. Wang Visiting Assistant Professor), École Normale Supérieure of Paris (Postdoctoral Researcher), and the University of Wrocław (Assistant Professor). His research focuses on geometric group theory, particularly nonpositive curvature and its implications for group actions on metric and combinatorial spaces.
Key research themes include:
- Strong shortcut properties in groups and metric spaces
- Quadric and systolic complexes
- Coarse injectivity and hierarchical hyperbolicity
- Applications to 3-manifolds and hyperbolic groups
His publications span journals such as Algebraic & Geometric Topology, Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, and Geometry & Topology. Notable awards include the Norbert Wiener Fellowship. Hoda has supervised seminar courses on geometric group theory and taught foundational topics in topology and analysis.
