Nils Waterstraat

Nils Waterstraat is Professor of Functional Analysis at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, working within the Analysis Research Group. His research applies topological methods in functional analysis to differential equations and geometry, with specializations in spectral flow theory, bifurcation phenomena, and Fredholm operator theory. He teaches foundational courses in analysis, linear algebra, measure theory, and operator theory.

His recent work includes developing K-theoretic methods for analyzing bifurcation in Hamiltonian systems and investigating index bundles for families of operators. He has supervised graduate research on Fredholm properties of differential operators and elliptic systems, with applications to mathematical physics.
