Nilam Ram is Professor of Communication and Psychology at Stanford University, studying how psychological processes change across the lifespan using intensive longitudinal methods and digital phenotyping. He earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Virginia (2006) and applies data science to social media, sensors, and smartphone data.
Ram directs the Human Screenome Project, capturing granular digital experiences to understand behavioral dynamics. His research examines emotion regulation, adolescent development, and mortality prediction using AI.
Publications demonstrate innovations in screenomics, experience sampling, and transformer models for health prediction. He teaches longitudinal data analysis and statistical methods, advising students in communication and psychology.
