Nikolaos Bekiaris-Lymberis

Nikolaos Bekiaris-Lymberis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Technical University of Crete since 2022. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at the same institution from 2019 to 2022, and as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow (2017–2019) and postdoctoral researcher (2014–2017) at the Department of Production and Management Engineering, Technical University of Crete. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (2013–2014).

• Education: PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from University of California, San Diego (2013); MSc in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from University of California, San Diego (2010); BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (2007).

Research Interests span both theoretical and applied domains:

• Theory: Control of distributed parameter systems, systems with delays, nonlinear control, adaptive control, and switching systems.
• Applications: Traffic flow control, connected/automated vehicles, biological transportation systems, occupancy detection in smart buildings, vehicle catalysts, 3D printing, vibration control in oil extraction, and networked control systems.

Editorial Roles include Associate Editor for Automatica (IFAC) and IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems since 2019, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems since 2024, and Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control since 2026.
