معرفی
Nikolai Pedentchouk is an Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia (UEA), based in the School of Environmental Sciences. He chairs the Health and Safety Executive at UEA and is a member of the Environmental Biology, Geosciences, and ClimateUEA research groups. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and environmental sustainability.
- Education:
- PhD (Geosciences), Pennsylvania State University (2004)
- MSc (Geology), Auburn University, USA (2000)
- BSc (Geology), Moscow State University, Russia (1997)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice, UEA (2010)
- Key Research Interests:
- Isotopic proxies for paleohydrology and paleoclimatology
- Quaternary climate change in western Europe
- Hydrogen isotope exchange in organic compounds
- Isotope-based food authentication and traceability
- Forensic applications of organic geochemistry
His research spans geochemical analyses of sedimentary records, isotopic fractionation mechanisms, and environmental forensics. Recent work includes studies on coastal ecosystems, deep-sea microbiology, and paleoclimate reconstruction. He has led or collaborated on projects funded by the Leverhulme Trust, DEFRA, and the British Council, focusing on topics like sea-ice dynamics and riverine organic carbon.
Publications highlight his expertise in stable isotope methodologies, with notable contributions to Nature on Arctic climate studies during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum. Current PhD supervision focuses on palaeoenvironmental reconstruction and isotopic proxy development.
- Collaborations: Global networks in climate science, geochemistry, and environmental forensics.
- Labs/Teams: Active member of interdisciplinary groups at UEA and international institutions.
