Niklas Frykman is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on maritime history, Atlantic history, and the Age of Revolution, with particular attention to mutinies, revolutionary movements, and the political economy of seafaring. He has held prestigious fellowships including the Barbara Thom Postdoctoral Fellowship (2013-14) and Mellon/ACLS grants.
His work examines the interplay between naval mutinies, global labor systems, and revolutionary ideologies.
