Niklas Alexander Chimirri is an Associate Professor in Social Psychology of Everyday Life at the Department of People & Technology, Roskilde University (Denmark). His research focuses on sociomaterial psychological studies of human-technology-world relationships within everyday life, integrating audience research, critical childhood studies, environmental humanities, feminist technoscience, and multimodal ethnographical design studies.
He investigates why people develop differing views of the world and the implications for democratic societies, particularly examining how digitalization and mediatization affect children, parents, and educators. His work emphasizes situating psychological research in practice and engaging with participants' everyday lives.
Research trends include: intergenerational communication, ethics in posthumanist research, sociomateriality in digital education, and care-centered pedagogies. Current projects explore democratic communication across generational divides and the upcoming Cambridge Handbook of Psychology and the Planet.
