Dr. Nikki Arrington is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Georgia State University's College of Arts & Sciences. She is affiliated with the TReNDS Center and the GSU/GT Center for Advanced Brain Imaging, where she oversees research operations.
Education:
- 2009 B.S. in Psychology, University of Houston
- 2015 Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology with an emphasis in Cognitive Neuroscience, University of Houston
- 2015–2019 Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Georgia State University
Research Interests: Dr. Arrington investigates the neurocognitive and neurobiological basis of reading and executive function. Her work leverages structural neuroimaging and neuromodulation techniques to study neural correlates in typically developing individuals and those with atypical development or neurological disorders such as dyslexia, ADHD, specific language impairment (SLI), and alexia. A key project involves neuromodulation combined with reading instruction to improve reading skills in adults with persistent dyslexia and reading disabilities.
Grants and Funding: Her research has been supported by the Oak Foundation, National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Center for Neuromodulation for Rehabilitation.
