Nik Sultana is Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology. His research develops techniques to build better distributed systems through programming theory, formal logic, and systems engineering.
He leads projects including Flightplan (dataplane disaggregation), Emu (network service prototyping), and Pitchfork (privilege separation). Current work focuses on debuggable programmable networks through the CREASE project and heterogeneous resource allocation with Patchwork.
Research areas include:
- Programmable network architectures
- Formal methods for system verification
- Distributed system security
- Network function virtualization
Honors include NSF and Google research awards. He teaches courses in computer networks, systems programming, and programmable networking.
