Nigel Burroughs is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Warwick with joint affiliation to the Zeeman Institute. His research applies mathematical and statistical methods to biological and medical phenomena.
Current investigations include human cell division mechanics, cancer therapy optimization, and predictive modeling for recurrent miscarriage. Methodologies include Bayesian inference techniques, Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms, and dynamical systems modeling applied to biological imaging data.
Publications demonstrate development of biophysically motivated models for chromosome dynamics and kinetochore organization. Recent work integrates computational methods with advanced microscopy techniques.
Leads research group funded by BBSRC and Wellcome Trust. Supervises PhD students through Warwick's MathSys program and mentors undergraduate researchers. Collaborates with medical school researchers on microscopy-based projects.
