Nigel Brand

Dr. Nigel Brand is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Oceans, The University of Western Australia, and serves as Director of Portable Spectral Services in West Perth. With over 34 years in global mineral exploration, he has held roles at Western Mining Corporation, Anglo American, and led consultancy work through Geochemical Services. His expertise spans geochemistry, spectral technologies, and resource exploration in diverse geological settings.

Research focuses on rare earth elements (REE), regolith studies, and nickel laterite deposits, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals via critical metal exploration. His publications address REE analogues in Australia, nickel laterite classification, and structural controls in ore formation. Collaborations include international teams advancing spectral technologies and resource sustainability.
