Nicoletta Di Simone

Nicoletta Di Simone is a Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Humanitas University in Milan, where she serves as Director of the Postgraduate School of Gynecology and Obstetrics. She holds medical qualifications from the Catholic University of Rome (MD 1988, specialization 1992) and completed advanced training at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital (1994-1996).

Her academic progression includes University Researcher (2002) and Associate Professor (2007) positions at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart before achieving Full Professor status at Humanitas University in 2021. She earned her PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecological Sciences from Sapienza University of Rome in 1998 and received National Qualification as Full Professor in 2017.

Dr. Di Simone's research focuses on the relationship between inflammation and preterm birth, with particular expertise in synthetic PreImplantation Factor (sPIF) therapy. Her work demonstrates that maternal sPIF application significantly reduces lipopolysaccharide-induced preterm birth rates by modulating inflammatory pathways in placental tissue and fetal brain development. This research has direct clinical implications as sPIF has received FDA Fast Track approval for non-pregnant subjects.
