Nicoleta Bocaneala

Nicoleta Bocaneala is an Assistant Lecturer in the digital built environment at Birmingham City University, teaching undergraduate courses in Architectural Technology and Building Surveying since joining full time in October 2021. Prior to this, she worked as a Visiting Lecturer and as an Architectural Technologist in industry.

Her educational qualifications:

• BSc in Architectural Technology, Birmingham City University
• Part-time PhD candidate (since May 2022) at Birmingham City University, researching "The use of semantic digital twin for retrofit projects to improve building performance"

Research interests focus on digital tools in the AEC sector for enhancing building performance and sustainability. Key areas include semantic digital twins for retrofit projects, energy efficiency through parametric dynamic façades, and daylight optimization. Her work aims to integrate cutting-edge technologies to improve building sustainability.

Professionally, Nicoleta chairs the CIAT West Midlands aspirATion Group, fostering the development of young professionals and inspiring future Architectural Technology experts.
