Nicole Yuan is an Associate Professor in the Health Behavior and Health Promotion department at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona. A licensed psychologist in Arizona, she holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University and an MPH in Health Services Research from the University of Washington.

Her research focuses on adverse life experiences, interpersonal violence, substance use, and community engagement in health promotion, particularly among underserved populations including American Indian and Alaska Native communities. She emphasizes coping and resilience mechanisms and community-based participatory research methodologies.
Recent publications highlight her work on tobacco cessation strategies, violence prevention frameworks, and culturally adapted interventions for indigenous populations. These studies often address health literacy, integrative health, and social determinants of health.
Scientific awards include a K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Career Development Award from the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism focusing on interpersonal violence and substance use among American Indian tribes.
As an educator, she teaches MPH courses including HPS 531: Contemporary Health Issues and Research and HPS 577: Sociocultural and Behavioral Aspects of Public Health. She mentors students at all levels and serves on doctoral, MPH, and undergraduate honors committees.
