Nicole Young is an Associate Professor at the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, where she teaches pharmacy practice and conducts clinical research. As a clinical pharmacist, she works in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at The Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu through the Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program.
- Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology from UH Mānoa (2009)
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UH Hilo (2015)
- PGY1 residency at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center (2015-2016)
- PGY2 residency in critical care pharmacy at UH Hilo and The Queen’s Medical Center (2016-2017)
Her research focuses on health disparities among ethnic populations, particularly Filipinos in stroke care, and the development of interprofessional educational activities to enhance healthcare workforce training. She has pioneered telehealth simulation models for pharmacy and nursing students to improve team-based care delivery.
Recent publications highlight her work in interprofessional telehealth education and policy-driven pharmacy practice expansion. Young actively collaborates with students on research posters for professional conferences like ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting.
Current projects include legislative advocacy for expanded pharmacist services and third-party payment models, alongside promoting growth mindset development in pharmacy students.
