Nicole Van Andel

Nicole Van Andel is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health Information Management at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, Indiana University Indianapolis. She teaches courses including Health Information Management, Medical Coding Practicum, and RHIA Exam Preparation. Her professional experience includes roles as Medical Records Administrator at Larue Carter Memorial Hospital and Medical Records Integrity Team Leader/Privacy Officer at Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, where she implemented electronic health record systems.

Van Andel actively contributes to professional organizations, serving as President of the Indiana Health Information Management Association and participating in AHIMA’s Foundation Research Network. She advocates for legislative alignment with healthcare data standards and mentors students through practicum programs.
