Nicole Navratil is a Research Fellow at the Max-Weber-Kolleg for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies at the University of Erfurt.
Her research project, Performing the Nation – and Womanhood? The (Self-)Staging of Female Leaders of Today’s Right-Wing Populist Parties in Europe, examines how female leaders of right-wing populist parties in Europe construct and portray themselves through gendered narratives and visual strategies. This work intersects with studies of political aesthetics, identity politics, and the modernization of far-right communication.
Her recent publications include a 2021 chapter on anti-Western discourses and LGBT+ identity in Serbian nation-building, co-authored with scholars like Rita Perintfalvi. She has presented at interdisciplinary workshops and symposia on topics such as memory politics, anti-genderism, and gendered imaginaries of Europe.
