Nicole Mancevice is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), affiliated with the Department of Education within the School of Education and Information Studies. Her academic focus centers on disciplinary literacy, curriculum design, and teachers’ professional learning. As a CONNECT Fellow, she collaborates with educators to co-design instructional strategies for supporting students’ reading in social studies and historical text analysis.
Education: She holds a Ph.D. in Education from UCLA, an Ed.M. in Language and Literacy from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a B.A. in English from Connecticut College.
Research Interests: Nicole investigates how elementary students evaluate historical texts through design-based research. Her work integrates advanced qualitative methods, community engagement, and learning sciences to enhance teaching practices. She emphasizes pedagogical frameworks that bridge theory and classroom application, particularly in literacy and social studies education.
