Nicole Key holds the Avrum and Joyce Gray Professorship in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and serves as Associate Head for Graduate Studies at Purdue University's West Lafayette School of Mechanical Engineering. She is also a Professor of Aeronautics & Astronautics (by courtesy). Her research focuses on aerothermal aspects of turbomachinery, axial/radial compressor performance, and experimental fluid mechanics. Key earned her B.S., M.S.E., and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2000, 2002, and 2007, respectively.
Her notable contributions include pioneering work on centrifugal impeller design, blade row interaction effects, and stall inception in compressors. She leads the High Speed Compressor Research group and has authored over 10 influential papers in journals like ASME Journal of Turbomachinery and AIAA Journal of Propulsion and Power.
