She holds the Eugene McDermott Distinguished Professor Fellowship and leads research at the intersection of microbiology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, and clinical practice.
- Education: MIT (BSc and PhD in Molecular Biology)
- Research Focus: Urinary microbiome dynamics, recurrent UTIs in postmenopausal women, photodynamic therapies, and biosensor development
- Collaborations: UT Southwestern Medical Center (urology), UT Dallas (chemistry/biochemistry)
- Key Projects: NIH-funded studies on microbial interactions, BactVue theranostic dye, and urinary biomarker discovery
Her work addresses chronic UTIs through advanced imaging, mass spectrometry, and metagenomic analysis, with recent publications on bladder wall bacteria, electrochemical biosensors, and microbial community modeling. Scientific awards include NIH postdoctoral recognition and the Eugene McDermott Fellowship for early-career excellence in research, teaching, and service.
