Dr. Anthony's research critically examines race-disability intersections through three interconnected lenses: career outcomes for students of color with ASD, culturally affirming social communication interventions for Black adolescents, and dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline. Her work prioritizes community-centered solutions that challenge systemic inequities in special education.
Recent publications (2020-2022) demonstrate consistent focus on autism interventions, with articles appearing in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and Advances in Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Her scholarship uniquely bridges clinical practices with social justice frameworks, particularly regarding racial disparities in educational outcomes for neurodivergent youth.
Dr. Anthony actively translates research into community action as president-elect of the Maryland Council for Exceptional Children chapter and founder of Coppin's 'Making Autism Work in the Community Day'. Previously at Fayetteville State University, she established the Autism Advisory Council to connect community resources with autistic youth. Her leadership consistently prioritizes practical community engagement over purely academic pursuits.
