Nicolas Stenger is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in Quantum Photonics of Low-dimensional Systems and affiliated with the NanoPhoton – Center for Nanophotonics. His research focuses on nanophotonic systems, plasmonics, and quantum emitters in two-dimensional materials. He supervises multiple PhD projects, including studies on quantum emitters in 2D materials and strong light-matter interactions in nanocavities.
Key research areas include dielectric and plasmonic nanocavities, luminescent defect engineering in hexagonal boron nitride, and topology-optimized photonic structures. His work contributes to advancements in quantum optics, nanophotonics, and sustainable technologies aligned with UN SDGs. Recent studies involve experimental and theoretical investigations of single-photon sources, cascaded quantum systems, and ultrafast dynamics in 2D materials.
Stenger has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and actively engages in international conferences. His projects often involve collaborations with institutions like TU Munich and University of Twente. He advises students and participates in initiatives like the MetaTune project focusing on tunable metasurfaces.
