Nicolas Krink is a post-doctoral researcher working on engineering the core metabolic pathways of Pseudomonas putida to produce novel long-chain fluorinated molecules. He has academic affiliations with institutions including the University of Freiburg (undergrad), Stanford University (B.Sc. thesis), CRI Paris (M.Sc.), and the Joint BioEnergy Institute (M.Sc. thesis). His career includes a Ph.D. at the Max-Planck-Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology (2019) and current work in Pablo's group since 2020.
Research Focus: Building on his expertise in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, Krink works on:
- Manipulating CoA ester pools
- Engineering multicellular networks in yeast/bacteria
- Developing novel biocatalytic systems for fluorinated compounds
Achievements:
- iGEM Grand Prize winner (2013)
- Co-founder of the German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB)
- NNF post-doctoral fellowship recipient
