Nicolas Hubé serves as a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe's Bruges campus within the Interdepartmental European Advanced Studies (IDEAs) program. He concurrently holds the position of Full Professor of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Lorraine and is a Research Fellow at the Centre de Recherche sur les Médiations (CREM), while directing the DAAD-German and European Center in France (CIERA).
His academic trajectory includes prior service as Associate-Professor in Political Science at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, where he chaired the Master of Institutional and Political Communication program and co-chaired the Political Communication Standing Group of the French Political Science Association. He also held a visiting professorship at Europa Universität Viadrina (Francfort/Oder, Germany) from March 2013 to August 2015.
Professor Hubé's research centers on European Studies, political sociology, political communication, and comparative journalism, with significant contributions through major international projects including the H2020 DEMOS initiative (Democratic Efficacy and the Varieties of Populism in Europe) and the Journalistic Role Performance project, where he serves as Principal Investigator for France.
His scholarly work critically examines European democratic processes, media-politics interactions, and journalistic practices across comparative contexts, emphasizing empirical analysis of populism's impact on governance and communication systems.
