Nicolas Galopin is an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering department at Université Joseph Fourier (UJF)/Grenoble INP, affiliated with the Faculty of Physics. He has been active in the MADEA research team since 2008 and coordinates the IUT-L3 Electrical Engineering Gateway.
- Bachelor's Degree (2002) in EEA, Université Paris Sud - Orsay
- Master's Degree (2004) in EEA, Université Paris Sud - Orsay
- Doctorate (2007) in EEA from Université Paris Sud - Orsay (LGEP)
His research focuses on multiphysical coupling phenomena, particularly electro-magneto-thermo-mechanical interactions in smart materials like piezoelectrics and magnetostrictive materials. He combines experimental characterization with numerical modeling to develop behavior laws for finite element simulations, enabling device design optimization in the context of active materials.
The analysis of Nicolas Galopin's publications reveals a consistent emphasis on multiphysical coupling modeling, sensor/actuator design, and numerical simulation of smart materials. Key trends include magnetoelectric composites, noise damping in electrical machines, and constitutive modeling of Terfenol-D crystals.
Nicolas Galopin supervises several students, including PhD candidates Anthony Carpentier and Thomas Lafont, as well as MEng students Amin Frikha and Guillaume Roudet. He collaborates with institutions such as Laboratoire de Génie Electrique de Paris (LGEP) and teams µ-Systèmes Magnétiques and MAGE at G2Elab.
