Nicolas Eugster

Dr. Nicolas Eugster is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at UQ Business School, The University of Queensland. He holds a PhD in Management (Finance) from the University of Fribourg and completed postdoctoral research at IESEG School of Management and University of Maryland.

His research examines:

• Ownership structures and corporate governance
• Family business dynamics
• Stock market behavior
• Corporate misconduct mechanisms
• Environmental performance of firms

Recent work investigates how family ownership influences carbon emissions and how internal governance mechanisms prevent corporate misconduct.

His publications demonstrate focus on ownership concentration effects, with studies spanning dividend-seeking behavior during crises, blockholder impacts on market stability, and family firm performance differentials. Research consistently analyzes how organizational structures influence financial outcomes.

Dr. Eugster received the 2018 Vigener Price for his doctoral dissertation on ownership structures and M&A decisions. He has enhanced pedagogical skills through a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Higher Education.
