Nicolas Durand

Nicolas Durand serves as an Associate Professor in Computer Science at Polytech Marseille, a graduate engineering school within Aix-Marseille University, a position he has held since 2007 with an HC grade (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) awarded in 2019. He conducts research at the LIS laboratory (UMR 7020 CNRS) as part of the IACD (Data-Centric Artificial Intelligence) team in the Data Science department.

He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Caen Normandy in 2004.

His research program focuses primarily on data mining methodologies, with specialized expertise in trajectory mining for spatial-temporal data analysis and anomaly detection systems. This work extends into broader applications of machine learning and information retrieval within data science frameworks, emphasizing practical implementations for pattern recognition and outlier identification in complex datasets.

Durand operates within the IACD research team at LIS laboratory, a CNRS-affiliated unit (UMR 7020) dedicated to advancing data-centric artificial intelligence approaches through interdisciplinary collaboration.
