Blocher Planetarium and Arthur J. Pejsa Observatory and coordinates the Astronomy minor program. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, and both M.S. and B.S. degrees in Physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania.
Zamfir's research explores:
- Extragalactic astronomy and galaxy evolution
- Phenomenology of active galactic nuclei
- Quasar spectroscopy and emission line analysis
- Radio-loud/radio-quasar dichotomy
His publications focus on quasar characterization using spectroscopic methods, with recent work examining radio properties of quasars and Hbeta emission lines in low-redshift systems. No awards, grants, or student advisements are documented.
He oversees planetary and observatory facilities for research and education, teaching courses including Applied Principles of Physics, Stars and Stellar Systems, and Unveiling the Universe.
