Nicolae-Viorel Buchete is Associate Professor of Theoretical & Computational Nano-Bio Physics at University College Dublin's School of Physics, where he serves as Vice Principal for Graduate Studies in the College of Science. His research develops computational methods to study biomolecular systems, focusing on protein dynamics, amyloid aggregation, and nanocarrier-assisted drug delivery.
Research integrates three methodological domains:
- Advanced sampling techniques for molecular dynamics (Milestoning, Markov State Models)
- Multiscale modeling of biomolecules and nanomaterials
- Physics-based approaches to drug design and delivery systems
Key application areas include:
- Conformational dynamics of kinases and GTPases in cancer signaling
- Amyloid peptide aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases
