Nicola Zannone

Nicola Zannone is an Associate Professor and chair of the Data Protection group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on information security, including access control, data analytics for privacy, and social engineering. He holds a PhD from the University of Trento (2007) and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Toronto and IBM Zurich. He is Editor-in-Chief of Computer Security and has received awards such as the 2020 IEEE Security & Privacy Best Paper Award. His work addresses cybersecurity challenges in autonomous systems, phishing defense, and industrial control systems. He leads projects like SECREDAS (2018–2021), focusing on security and privacy in data fusion. Zannone collaborates internationally, contributing to sustainable development goals through secure technology solutions.

Research interests include access control policies, anomaly detection, and collaborative systems security. He has published over 200 papers and actively participates in academic committees. His teaching includes courses on data protection principles and information security technology. Notable achievements include pioneering work on phishing detection frameworks and privacy-preserving machine learning techniques.
