Research & Creative Work
Nicola writes across genres—poetry, creative nonfiction, fiction, drama, and children’s narratives—centering on personal narratives that interrogate generational, geographic, and familial schisms. Her work explores the psychological aftermath of trauma, the silences that follow rupture, and the processes of survival and healing. She is currently revising a poetry-and-essay collection, a memoir on working in London theatre during Margaret Thatcher’s premiership, and another memoir chronicling her in-vitro fertilization experience.
Her practice is further informed by training in Counseling Psychology and Advanced Yoga Studies, disciplines that infuse both her creative practice and pedagogy.
Campus & Classroom Engagement
She teaches introductory and advanced writing courses (ENGL 101, 102, 200, 282, 360, 460) as well as British literature surveys, fostering deep observation, creative risk-taking, and interdisciplinary inquiry among students.
