Professor Glaubitz's research spans several interconnected domains centered on temporal and media theories in literary contexts. Her primary interests include the social and media history of English literature from the 16th to 21st centuries, reading cultures and communities, time and temporality in literature, critical digital humanities, literature and visuality, early modern drama, and media aesthetics across various forms including film, animated film, television series, and comics. Her work demonstrates particular expertise in long-form literature and the temporal structures that shape reading experiences.
Analyzing her recent publications reveals a strong focus on temporal theory as applied to literary studies, particularly examining how time functions in long novels and reading communities. Her work bridges historical literary analysis with contemporary media studies, showing special interest in how digital humanities can enhance traditional literary scholarship. The publications demonstrate consistent engagement with both theoretical frameworks and specific literary works across historical periods, with particular attention to how media forms shape literary expression and reception.
Professor Glaubitz actively participates in academic discourse through numerous conference presentations and invited talks, with scheduled appearances extending to 2025 including 'The advice to trust is so good': How readers build trust in long complex novels' at University College Dublin.
Her research is supported by significant funding, most notably through the DFG-Schwerpunktprogramm 1688 'Ästhetische Eigenzeiten. Zeit und Darstellung in der polychronen Moderne' where she served as a research assistant from 2016-2018 on the project 'Individual temporalities and reading communities: Structures of temporality and anglophone long novels from the 1970s to the present.'
Professor Glaubitz maintains active involvement in several research communities, particularly those examining the relationship between reading practices, temporal structures, and literary form. Her work connects academic scholarship with broader cultural discussions about how we engage with complex literary texts in contemporary media environments.
