Nicola Englyst

Professor Nicola Englyst holds a Professorial role in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. She currently serves as Director of Undergraduate Programmes, overseeing medical education, and leads the Faculty of Medicine Mentoring Scheme. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Aberdeen and postdoctoral research at Cambridge before joining Southampton in 1999. She has held roles such as Lecturer in Physiology (2007), Associate Professor (2015), and Postgraduate Director of Programmes (2018).

Her research spans laboratory-based studies on platelets and microvesicles, patient-centered language analysis on social media, and educational innovations like the Understanding Insulin MOOC (enrolling 13k+ learners globally).
