Dr. Nicola Burns is a Senior Lecturer in Disability Studies at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the School of Social and Political Sciences and the School of Health & Wellbeing. Her work focuses on equity and social justice, particularly for marginalized groups such as disabled people, migrants, refugees, and those experiencing mental distress. She holds a PhD and has conducted cross-disciplinary research spanning sociology, geography, and healthcare studies.
Research Interests: Disability studies, migration and health intersections, healthcare access for marginalized populations, mental health service user experiences, and the socio-spatial dimensions of health inequities. Her recent work explores pandemic impacts on vulnerable groups and colonial legacies in migration and disability studies.
