Dr. Nico Posnien is an Emmy-Noether Group Leader at the Department of Developmental Biology, Georg-August University Göttingen. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying morphological evolution in insects and arachnids, combining comparative genomics, quantitative genetics, and geometric morphometrics. He completed his Diploma (2006) and PhD (2009) at Georg-August University, followed by postdoctoral positions at institutions including the Vetmed Uni Vienna and Oxford Brookes University. His current work explores gene regulatory networks shaping head and eye morphology in flies, beetles, and spiders.
Research affiliations include the GGNB clusters 'Genes in Development, Disease and Evolution' and 'Genome Science (IMPRS)'. Contact: nposnie@gwdg.de, +49-551-39 28662.
Key projects include studying sexual dimorphism in mandible size of Gnathocerus cornutus and the evolution of eye morphology in Drosophila species. No scientific awards are explicitly listed, though his work contributes to foundational evolutionary developmental biology research.
