Nick Jensich is the Associate Director of Urban Design at the Albert & Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design and an Adjunct Lecturer in Architecture at Tulane University. He specializes in public interest design, urban planning, and policy analysis, with a focus on affordable housing and regional context in New Orleans. He is also a member of Urban Orders, a transdisciplinary research network based at Aarhus University.
Education: Master of Architecture from Tulane University.
Research interests include the impact of policy on urbanization, historic preservation strategies, and community-driven design initiatives. His work spans international projects in China (e.g., Changxing, Nantong) and domestic efforts in post-Katrina Gulf Coast recovery. As a project manager, he secured funding for over 25 community-based design projects and secured Preserve America designations for Louisiana cities like Slidell and Mandeville.
He serves on Jefferson Parish’s architectural design review board and has organized five sessions of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design. His transdisciplinary collaborations include work with the American Planning Association on historic preservation in China.
