Nick Davis is an Associate Professor of English and Director of the Gender & Sexuality Studies Program at Northwestern University. He holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University and is a member of the graduate faculty. His research focuses on narrative film, feminist and gender studies, queer theory, and 20th/21st-century American literature, bridging academic scholarship with public film culture. Davis has authored over 1,300 film reviews and essays, including his influential book *The Desiring-Image: Gilles Deleuze and Contemporary Queer Cinema* (2013).
He teaches courses such as 'Queer Theory and Queer Cinema' at the graduate level and undergraduate classes like 'Introduction to Film and Its Literatures' and 'Sexual Subjects.' Davis also contributes to interdisciplinary clusters at Northwestern and has been honored with the Alumnae of Northwestern Teaching Professorship (2017–2020), recognizing his distinguished teaching and curricular innovation.
His recent work includes studies of Mike Mills’ *20th Century Women* and a forthcoming analysis of 1999 cinema. Davis actively engages with film communities, maintaining a website featuring reviews of global releases, and previously served as a Contributing Editor at *Film Comment*.
