Nicholas Ryan is an Associate Professor of Economics at Yale University's Department of Economics. His research focuses on energy markets, environmental regulation, and development economics, particularly in developing countries. He examines how regulatory policies and market incentives influence energy use, pollution, and economic outcomes in contexts like India's energy sector.
Education: PhD in Economics from MIT (2012), BA summa cum laude in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was a Prize Fellow at Harvard (2012–2014) and a Research Associate at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
Research interests include the design of effective environmental regulations, energy productivity in manufacturing, and the impact of infrastructure on market competition. His work has been supported by NSF and USAID grants.
Key awards include the Harvard Prize Fellowship in Economics. He has published in top journals like the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Political Economy, and American Economic Review.
