Nicholas Oddy is a Senior Lecturer at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), affiliated with the Department of Historical & Critical Studies. Born in Edinburgh, he graduated with a BA(Hons) in Ceramics (1983) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Ceramics (1984) from Edinburgh College of Art, followed by an MA(RCA) in History of Design (1986) from the Royal College of Art, supported by the Associates of the V&A Scholarship.

His research spans cycling history, road signage, toys and models, and the cultural significance of collectors' items. He explores intersections between design history, material culture, and popular collecting traditions.
Senior Lecturer Nicholas Oddy has held consultancies for major auction houses like Phillips (Cycles and Cycle Memorabilia) and Bonhams (Toys and Collectors' Items). He is Chair of the Cycling History and Educational Trust and Trustee of the Brighton Toy and Model Museum.
