معرفی
Nicholas Grossoehme is a Professor of Chemistry at Winthrop University and Dean of the Honors College. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College and completed postdoctoral research at Indiana University before joining Winthrop. His research focuses on bacterial metal regulatory mechanisms, particularly copper homeostasis and metalloregulators in Streptomyces coelicolor.
- Ph.D., Chemistry, Dartmouth College
- B.S., Chemistry/Biology, Midland Lutheran College
Research Interests
His work develops experimental methodologies for thermodynamic characterization of allosteric regulatory proteins, emphasizing copper homeostasis and its biological implications. Techniques include Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC), spectroscopy, and biophysical analysis.
Scientific Awards
- SC INBRE II funding
- Research Corporation Cottrell College Single Investigator Award (2011-2013)
Grants and Collaborations
Currently funded by SC INBRE II, with prior support from Research Corporation. His lab investigates metal regulation networks and their link to antibiotic biosynthesis.
