Nicholas Denysenko is the Emil and Elfriede Jochum University Professor and Chair at Valparaiso University, where he also serves as Professor of Religious Studies. Prior to this role, he taught at Loyola Marymount University for seven years and directed the Huffington Ecumenical Institute.

His research spans liturgical theology, Ukrainian religious history, and Orthodox Christian traditions, with notable publications addressing Eastern Orthodox worship practices, ecclesiastical architecture, and the religious dimensions of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. His recent works analyze the intersection of liturgy with political theology and cultural identity.
Selected publications reveal trends in liturgical reform, ecumenical dialogue, and the socio-political role of Orthodoxy. His awards include the 2015 Catholic Press Association recognition in liturgy. Denysenko’s scholarship engages both academic and ecclesial communities through interdisciplinary analysis of religious practice and institutional development.
