Nicholas David Yardley Ball is a Research Fellow at the Department of Musicology, University of Oslo. He holds a BA (2014, Oxford, Gibbs Prize winner), MSt (Oxford), and PhD (Cambridge), all funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. Previously at the Bodleian Libraries (Oxford), he currently leads UiO's Digital Scholarship Centre initiatives, teaching SQL, Python, Unix, and Git through Carpentries@UiO.
His research focuses on musicology and digital humanities, with a notable publication on medieval liturgical chants. Awards include the Gibbs Prize for academic excellence. He is affiliated with the International Summer School as a student and contributes to interdisciplinary projects in musicological analysis and computational methods.
