Nicholas Cerruti is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Washington State University (WSU), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He has been affiliated with WSU since 2006, serving as an instructor and academic advisor. His research focuses on the interplay between quantum and classical physics through semiclassical methods, long-range ocean acoustics, and enhancing science literacy among non-science majors. He also holds interests in physics education research.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Washington State University (2000)
- M.Sc. in Physics, Washington State University (1998)
- B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics, Lewis & Clark College (1992)
Research Interests: Dr. Cerruti explores quantum chaos theory, particularly Coulomb blockade peak heights in quantum dots and parametric variations in quantum systems. His work extends to symmetry violation studies and improving educational strategies for non-specialist audiences. He has contributed to semiclassical analysis of acoustical wave propagation in oceanic environments.
Teaching and Advising: As an academic advisor, Cerruti supports undergraduate and graduate students in the physics program. His teaching emphasizes foundational physics concepts and pedagogical innovation.
