Nicholas Bruscia is an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo. He specializes in digital design media, fabrication workflows, and architectural geometry, with a focus on integrating advanced manufacturing techniques with traditional craftsmanship. His research explores formal and structural elegance through material experimentation and fabrication processes.
Bruscia holds affiliations with the Sustainable Manufacturing and Advanced Robotics Technology (SMART) Community of Excellence and the Center for Architecture and Situated Technologies (CAST). He leads a team developing augmented reality tools for architectural education and construction. His work has garnered international recognition, including Architizer A+ Awards and the Architect’s Newspaper Best of Fabrication Award.
Teaching encompasses undergraduate design-build studios, graduate research studios within the Situated Technologies Research Group, and a recurring Japan study abroad program blending computational modeling with traditional carpentry and weaving. His professional experience includes industry-sponsored large-scale prototypes and collaborations across academic and industrial sectors.
