Dr. Niamh Dooley is a Postdoctoral Fellow jointly affiliated with King’s College London and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Her current three-year fellowship, co-funded by multiple institutions, investigates the youth mental health crisis from a public health perspective. She is based at the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre within King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, and collaborates with the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine and the NIHR Research Support Service.
Her academic journey includes a research master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience at Leiden University and a PhD in psychiatric epidemiology at RCSI, focusing on prenatal factors influencing later mental health. Professional roles have included statistical work in clinical trials and supporting researchers in funding applications. Her research interests span adolescent mental health trends, youth-oriented mental health services in Ireland and the UK, and integrating rapid data analysis into service evaluation.
Dr. Dooley contributes to the Platforms for Longitudinal Mental Health Data (PALM) initiative, led by Professor Louise Arseneault, aiming to enhance accessibility of longitudinal mental health data. Her work bridges epidemiological research, clinical practice, and public health policy, with a focus on improving mental health outcomes for children and adolescents.
