Dr. Niamh Cummins is an Associate Professor in Public Health at the School of Medicine, University of Limerick (UL), Ireland, and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University. Her research focuses on health services improvement, particularly in pre-hospital and emergency medicine, integration of health services, mental health, and clinical screening tools. She has driven national policy changes, including new care models (e.g., Emergency Aeromedical Service) and updates to clinical guidelines (e.g., Spinal Injury Management) for Irish paramedics.
As the Founder and Chair of the Irish Paramedicine Education and Research Network (IPERN), she fosters research collaboration across paramedics, nurses, doctors, and scientists. She established Ireland’s foundational paramedic education program at UL, launched in 2016. Her professional roles include membership in the College of Paramedics Public Health Special Interest Group, the International Advisory Board for the PRIME Centre (Wales), and as an Associate Editor for the journal Paramedicine.
