Ng Yu-Ying

Ng Yu-Ying is a Teaching Professor of Violin at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST), National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a founding member of the internationally acclaimed T’ang Quartet and has been a core faculty member since the conservatory’s establishment. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music (UK) with first-class honours, he has performed globally as a soloist and chamber musician, earning accolades such as the Alex Templeton Prize and Dominion Fellowship.

His career began with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and he has collaborated with renowned artists like Anna-Sophie Mutter. The T’ang Quartet, renowned for its technical brilliance and innovative programming, has performed at major festivals worldwide and holds a residency at YST. They received a prestigious fellowship at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in 1997.

Ng Yu-Ying is a sought-after pedagogue, leading masterclasses at events like the Singapore International Violin Festival and serving as a jury member for competitions. His teaching emphasizes both classical performance excellence and the transmission of musical heritage.
