معرفی
Nevin N Weinberg is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He received his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Chicago (2000) and his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Caltech (2005). Prior to joining UTA, he held postdoctoral positions at UC Berkeley and the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics, and served as Assistant/Associate Professor at MIT (2011-2019).
His research focuses on theoretical astrophysics with emphasis on:
- Tidal dynamics in neutron star binaries and exoplanetary systems
- Orbital evolution of hot Jupiters
- Stellar fluid dynamics and asteroseismology
- X-ray burst physics and thermonuclear burning
Recent publications (2020-2024) predominantly explore tidal interactions in exoplanets and neutron stars, orbital decay phenomena, and stellar oscillation modes. This reflects a consistent focus on extreme gravitational environments and hydrodynamic modeling.
Dr. Weinberg advises multiple PhD students including Ishaan Varshney, Shaan Patel, and Mohammed Mourabit. He secured $751,801 in active NSF/NASA grants (2021-2026) for projects on X-ray bursts, nonlinear wave dynamics, and tidal evolution in stellar binaries.
