Nevena Kuzmanovic

Nevena Kuzmanovic is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Plant Ecology and Geography, Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. She completed her PhD in Environmental Sciences (2014) and undergraduate degree in Biology (2008) at the same institution. Her teaching experience includes practical courses in Fundamentals of Ecology, Plant Ecology, Vegetation Ecology, and Field Practicum since 2009.

Her research specializes in:

• Plant ecology and phytogeography of Balkan flora
• Chorology and distribution patterns
• Taxonomic and systematic studies of vascular plants
• Floristic inventories and conservation assessments

Publications (2018-2025) demonstrate strong focus on Balkan Peninsula plant diversity, featuring molecular phylogenetics, morphological adaptations, conservation status evaluations, and discovery of new taxa. Research frequently integrates herbarium studies, GIS analysis, and genomic approaches to examine ecological adaptations in challenging environments like serpentine soils and alpine habitats.
